Absence

I've been away a bit, again, I know.

This time the reason is the best it could ever be. I have been devoting a lot of my time to one person, the best little girl in the world. She is special in ways I never knew existed and she makes me feel like the happiest, luckiest man in the world.

This doesn't mean that I am not writing anymore. I am, it just means that a lot of my energy is focused differently. I am tidying up a few things right now and hope to fill some of those gaps you have all been telling me about.

I have kept this a little close to my chest (yes she really is that special) but to share her now just makes my heart feel so light and bright. I have never met anyone like her. She is amazing in a billion different ways and I treasure her above all.

I had started to gush a lot more, but I'll just leave that there. Maybe it will crop up somewhere else...

This time fo realz yo!

Chapter 34 of Sarah Porter's Schooldays is now up. Seriously, it really is. Go and look!

I know it's been a while, and a week late (or 5 months late as some of you buggers are wont to remind me) but real life comes first.

I have no more travel for the rest of the year *fist pump* and am taking my first holiday in three years over the Christmas break - three whole weeks off. My big plans? Stay at home and read, do some writing, maybe veg out and get fat (haha). I am seriously contemplating stocking up on food so I don't have to leave the house at all *sigh*

I'll actually probably spend a lot of time in the forest. I got some new Vibrams and I'm looking forward to wearing them in, exploring and finding some cool places off the beaten track.

Ramble incoming, in 3...2...1...

This chapter was hard. Not necessarily to write, but to edit. It took a long time, much longer than anticipated. Over the last few months my writing has been incredibly fragmented. I have basically been writing whatever and whenever with no thoughts to continuity or structure. Going through everything, I have about seven chapters worth of material (around 150,000 words) written but it is across four stories and often skips entire chapters.

I also have three notebooks worth of scribbles (those annoying little flashes that strike at the strangest of times - usually when I'm trying to go to sleep and end up keeping me awake until the wee hours) that I have to attempt to put together.

This current chapter had multiple parts written at different times and I had to stitch them together. I don't ever want to have to do that again. The editing process took longer than the writing (and I don't like editing my own stuff at the best of times, but it is necessary, I'll often add another quarter of the chapter's total in editing).

As always, I'm relying a lot on you guys and girls to keep me grounded. I can't thank enough all those people who have written to me to point out errors in what I've already posted. I try and fix them up as soon as I can.

A big thank you to everyone who sends me little snippets as well. I love all the links and images that pop into my inbox.

Thank you also to all those lovely emails concerned for my welfare... you guys *blush* In the future, even if I struggle to write I'll always pop on here, or to my tumblr and keep you updated.

Ah tumblr, the destroyer of time. Not really though, I don't do a huge amount of browsing but more than one little scene, or sometimes just a sentence, has come from there (usually from the most unlikely sources). So I started my own and am using it as kind of a repository of inspiration and just stuff that I like. I've only just got the hang of messages there though, so if you've sent one through and I've not answered (or it seems like I haven't), you can send it again - I will answer privately unless I decide its pertinent not to.

And that's about it. Hoepfully updates will be a little more regular but I just don't know. I am still piecing everything together and my life, though a little more settled, has a lot of uncertainty (things I hope come to fruition and others I don't).

So, enjoy (hopefully).

Opportunity and Adventure

Where's the bloody chapters?

Yes, well may you ask. A chapter shall be posted this week, and hopefully another the week after that and then a steady stream towards the end of the year. I have just returned from my final trip of the year, so I now get to spend as much time at home, squirrelled away in my little slice of the world, as I like.

In the meantime I have been dabbling in tumblr. You can check it out at Opportunity & Adventure. It's just going to be a collection of things that I like, that pique my interest or that I spot around the place. Just starting out here but over time it will grow and maybe give you guys and girls a little insight into what tickles the fancy of my muse.

If you see anything you think I'd like, let me know and it might just make it's way up.

The Sleeper Awakens

Hello Everyone

I know, I know... but I'm back :)

I did kind of drop off the face of the Earth for a little there and I promise not to do so again. Jimmy might remember a hiatus I took once before but that was something entirely different.

There have been a few draws upon my time, both familial and professional, but the waters have calmed and it looks like smooth sailing ahead. I have to travel again in two weeks and then once more in November, but after that my time is my own.

I have been writing a little and when I get around to editing it, I hope to have a little something for everyone. To get back into the swing of things I have just been following my muse and she is a rather chaotic minx. I have something of each of my current stories and something new as well so watch this space :)

Thanks to everyone for their emails. If you asked something specific I will get back to you.

Again with the Pig

I have added the second new chapter of Pentonbridge Pig. I didn't mention the last update here so if you aren't following that individual blog you might have missed it. Chapter 31 shouldn't be far off - it is written and almost edited.

I have been doing a little editing lately, not something I usually do a lot of but I've kind of been in the mood :)

I'm not sure what will be next to come. I just have to finish the last little bit of the next chapter of Sarah Porter's Schooldays, in which our young student attends her punishment session. I am also putting the finishing touches on the middle part of the latest chapter of My Very Own, so it just depends on what takes my fancy on any given day.

The ideas have been running wild lately and I have actually been dabbling in a couple of new stories. Nothing too serious, just getting ideas down and writing a scene or two, just so I don't forget. Never fear though, I'm not about to start posting another serial without finishing one of the current players. I'm not that much of a masochist!

It might be a while before any of these stories see the light of day but I am writing a little most days.

I'd just like to say thanks to everyone for their continued support. It really is a great motivator to know that you are out there, waiting patiently (ha ha). I've recently discovered tumblr (how have I not learnt of this before?) but I'm trying hard not to let it suck too much of my time. Maybe I'll pop up on there sometime soon.

I've been asked about my library a few times and once I have my desk, and my new lights, I'll take a few pictures and pop them up for those that are interested.

Who Wants to be a Luddite?

So I guess it's time to bite the bullet and get this computer fixed. I honestly thought I'd managed to do it myself with a rebuild but it seems there is just something fundamentally wrong with my videocard. I can't avoid it any longer.

I lost around two hours writing tonight and that was really the final straw. I shall continue to edit what I have and should have a new chapter of PP up tomorrow but I'm going to have to fix this once and for all.

It is one of the worst feelings in the world to have your computer freeze, leaving you staring at a screen unable to hit just one more key that would have seen the last two hours of work saved. I'm not going to say which story I was working on as that will only make a certain group all the more despondent.

On a more positive note, I have my library in order finally - my books are all out of their boxes and on the shelves. Once I have a few more things in place (like an actual desk) I'll have my wonderful writing environment back, which will please my muse to no end.

Something new...

Well, first I guess I should acknowledge all you patient little buggers and say thank you for all the support you've given me over the last few months, and all those little nudges that have let me know how much you've all been suffering :)

The first part of a new chapter for MVO is now up on the appropriate blog. I have split this chapter into three parts - the easier to post it so you guys have something to read while I get my act together.

My writing has been terribly fragmented over the last few months, and I have had to delve back into my stories, reading the last few chapters before I start to write again. Then I have had to get all my handwritten notes in order (which is a bloody pain in the ass) and then I could start to work again.

Fingers crossed that updates will be a lot more regular from now on. Part 2 of Chapter 22 should not be too long in coming, but the next section to see the light will probably be a new chapter for Pentonbridge Pig.

Stay tuned :)
